AFAR Travelers’ Choice Awards 2019
The Croatian tourist pearl of Dubrovnik was declared as the best cultural destination for 2019 by many readers of the popular American tourist platform AFAR. It is the recognition that this organization grants within the category of destinations, and Dubrovnik has achieved the highest number of votes of numerous American travel lovers.

– This award at the end of the tourist year is an additional confirmation of the popularity of Dubrovnik, but also of Croatia in general on us in the extremely important and large American market. I would like to express my sincere congratulations to all tourists in Dubrovnik as well as to the citizens of this city, which for many tourists represents the main motive for coming to our country, said HTZ director Kristjan Staničić, adding that during next year we will work intensely on the realization of all the potentials our country there is a US market, which is why in the following year HTZ opens a Los Angeles office.

This is the AFAR award for the best cultural destination, the best quality assurance, and the most balanced cultural offer, both for domestic and foreign visitors – commented Romana Vlašić, director of the City of Dubrovnik.
– As one of the most desirable destinations in Europe, Dubrovnik has won numerous American tourists with a combination of history, culture, natural beauty, gastronomy and a mild Mediterranean climate – said Director of the HTZ Representative Office in New York, Ina Rodin, saying this award AFARA further confirms the popularity of our country in the US market, but also the fact that promotional activities and numerous projects have contributed significantly to the popularity and visibility of Croatian destinations.
We add that in Croatia from January to late November this year, about 580,000 arrivals and 1.6 million overnight stays came from the US market, compared to the same period last year, representing a growth of 23 percent in arrivals and 18 percent in overnight stays. The list of the most popular Croatian destinations that American tourists prefer to head Dubrovnik, with more than 140,000 arrivals and about 410,000 American tourist nights, are quoted by HTZ.
